Being in sales, I thought this Forum would be a hive of activity with several discussions going on at once. I was therefore quite upset to see so few posts. Being at the top of Yahoo for a search of "sales forum" I would have thought more people would come on and share experiences.

Most of us are involved in sales, I think we should put our heads together and think of a way to sell/market this forum to salesmen across the globe.

Can you imagine the activity and information that could be passed through one simple gateway...

Anyone with me?

Well unless we have a budget of any sort (which is highly doubtful) it will have to be word of mouth unless anyone knows a decent PR consultant and is very good friends with them

I guess to begin with it will have to be through other forums, telling people in the workplace about the whole thing.

The other idea I had was major companies across the globe. How many times have you seen a site say "Find this product interesting? Email our sales team sales@companyx.com". We could set up an email template that we think will work and get it going out to as many of those addresses as we can find. Not necessarily making it a full time job, just if you have a spare 20 mins at lunch or in the morning but it seems like a quick easy way to target people.

Hmm strange it is fairly prominent as well! I think they should maybe push it out a bit more.

Out of interest what do you sell if anything?

Online Directory - I completely agree and would love to see this forum take off as I think there is so much value in this type of community. To your point that this is the number one organic listing for "sales forum" and the buzz hasn't really taken off I think has to do with content.

As you surely know, search is the most efficient way to reach the masses in any number of industries and this forum has a huge hold for large, high volume terms like "sales forum". The traffic is coming, so why isn't it sticking?

I think it has to do with the content that is here. What are sales people looking for in a community setting like this? I imagine they are not jut coming here to gripe, but rather search for tools, tips, techniques that are going to help them improve their sales cycle. The professional sales person does not have the time to sift through insignificant data as time away from the phone means a possible missed sale.

So, Let's start posting on topics that may make a difference in the professional sales person's career and the quality of the content alone will develop and garner a healthy onine community. Give people a reason to stick around and WOM will spread.
