Default Speaker's Club

I know someone who joined a public speaking club to get some experience at it, and hopefully boost her confidence when talking to a number of people.

I think they met regularly at functions in restaurants, etc.

Has anybody here tried that sort of thing to get experience addressing people?

I did not know such a thing existed Ricardo. I am awful at piblic speaking and doing presentations. luckily in my career I have had to give only 2 presentations, they made me feel very self concious. I am not a lover of attention and would rather step back from the spotlight.

Speakers clubs could be a good idea for people like me.

I think the best way to improve your confidence is to join any type of social club where you can use your communication skills. For me I started djing and that gave me the confidence to get into sales. Most successful sales people are sociable and outgoing. Remember people buy from people

There are zillions of Toastmasters clubs around the world whose mission it is to give people experience public speaking, whether the person is experienced, or is having trouble with it. Dues are inexpensive and it's a very supportive environment. I highly recommend Toastmasters.
