Lets face it most people are in sales for the money. The more you sell the more you should make. Why else would you put yourself through the ringer. Personally yes I like the money but I also like the buzz that a sale gives me. When I worked for a large company it was nice to see your name at the top of the league table. Most people think that sales is not a profession. I disagree. It is an art and only a select few can do it well.

There are a number of reasons why I would recommend a sales position to someone that is willing to make the right commitment. But, to me, the best reason for being in sales is that it is one of the few professions in which your income is in direct proportion to your level of success. For example, my wife is a buyer with a major corporation. She is very well respected and is well liked by her employer. However, as good as she is, her income will always be limited by her tenior. Those that have been with her company longer earn more than her, even though her annual review has been the best in her department. It's very frustrating for her.

Yes, it really depends on the person.

Some people are motivated by money and want to work hard to earn more. This suits both people who run their own business and sales people...

Some people need the security of a set wage and cant handle the stress sometimes you get in sales. Takes confidence in your ability etc.
