This is my 3rd year in copier sales and I'm doing OK but can't seem to break that 45K mark.
Been considering leaving copier sales but what industry do I move to ?
I was a copier tech for 13 years, just wish I was as good a sales rep as I was a tech. ( going back to a tech is NOT an option). I enjoy selling but not so much the copier sale.
I'm told after 5 years I should realy be doing well but not so sure about that.

Could use a shot in the arm right about now.

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Do you publish anything related to your customer's business? In order to get referals, you need to keep your name fresh in your customer's mind. A newsletter you publish and distribute to your current and potential customers will keep your name on the top of the list. You'll want to include hints and suggestions that relate to your customer, but that do NOT sell your product. If your customer sees your publication as nothing other than an ad, he'll just throw it, and you, away.

If however, it is the copier sales that you lothe, and not your lack of success, you'll definitely want to move on. My opinion however, is that sales are sales, and if you like sales the product will be of little consequence.

Hope this helps!
Bill

Hello,

Is it the industry you are in, or is it your company that limits your commissions? I work in office supply sales and have been with a few different competitors in my industry. Some companies don't pay squat and have limited compensation plans, or as one family owned operation had it set up. You landed the account, got paid for one month worth of business, then they transfered the account over to one of the family member salespeople for them to get paid on it. Check out some of the competition in your industry. There might be a better opportunity.
