Thumbs up

Hi all, I hope you guys are doing great! This is actually my very first post ever, I am so happy to find a sales forum! I just wanted to get some of your expert advice:

I am looking to find a job in sales with a company that is KNOWN to have on of the finest sales training programs in their particular industry. I would like to become the best sales person I can be. I think sales would be a great school of negotiation and also a great growing experience. So here are my quick questions:

1. Do you guys know of any companies that are recognized and known for their sales training programs?
2. Also, if you work for a company and you believe that you have received exceptional training, please let me know whom you work for.

I don’t have a particular industry preference, although I would like to sale to businesses. But really, I am looking for a company where I can learn the art of negotiation, and I know that sales can be a great growing experience.

If you guys have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it! Thank you soo much!
Victor

Hi VHF and welcome to the board.

Three Questions;

What do you want to sell? Advertising? Data? Software? It helps to have an interest in what you are selling.

Where do you live and is relocation a problem for you?

Are you prepared to dig deep and learn for a couple of months while you get knock back after knock back as you develop your sales skills?

Hi, I dont have a particular product/service that I want to sell. What I do know is that I want to sell to businesses. I actually thought, "I'll find a couple of companies that do spectacular training and then i will choose the company whose products or services i would like to sell.... among other characteristics"

I live in Dallas, TX.. and i probably would not like to relocate...but if that is what it takes, and the oportunity is an exact match to what i am looking for, then i would consider it.

I do know that sales is not easy. And yes, i am prepared to go to hell and back to develop my sales and negotiation skills.

Excellent good to hear!

As far as American companies go I don't know much about them, but you want to look for a big company, with a high turnover and a BIG product base for you to sell from.

Look for something that you can talk to a client about and then go away and find something that suits his particular needs rather than just going for a job where you are selling one straight product. The advantages to this are obvious but you will also improve your negotiation skills, deal with people in a high level of business and use your brain to match their needs to something you are selling.

When questioning a company, ask about the directors sales experience and the companies that they have worked for. Ask for references if you feel the need. The chances are that if you find a director that is excellent at sales, they will have a lot of good advice for you.

Also, try to pick a company that is selling something that you believe will actually be of benefit to the client. If you have 100% belief in the product you are selling then the client will be swayed easier because of your enthusiasm.

This sounds like pretty obvious stuff but if you find a company that completes each point and you end up with good training, you will end up being in the top 5% of salespeople.

VHF,

XEROX is well known for their sales training programs. Selling copiers is a very tough business but it is a good way to get started.

ADP (outsourced Payroll processing) is another company that has a good reputation for sales training and providing a career path for their employees.

Good Luck,
Kregg
