Hi Wellit,

Whoever told you that sales was a sure way to make a lot of money should be shot down as soon as possible.

Sales is an amazingly easy industry to get into but an amazingly difficult one to earn a lot of money in unless you are prepared to work at it for years.

If it was that easy to make $7000 don't you think everybody would be doing it?

When you're looking for your first job, go for the firm that will offer you the best training package and also go for one that sells into businesses rather than consumers as that's where the bigger money lies.

As far as the type of company you could sell advertising space, cars, printers, business solutions, people, the list goes on.

Name some of your personality traits and your key skills/ past work experience and we'll all try to give you as many ideas as poss. Good luck!

Not sure about being a purchaser or Int. trading but I have been in sales for 3yrs and can tell you that you CAN make allot of money in the field.

The richest people in the world either inherit it, owned their own company or are in sales.

Of course I won't go into all of the specs etc. but the obvious answer to making money in a sales position is low quota and high attainment.

I think the most I've made in a month to date is 30k NET...that's not normal and shouldn't be expected but I do pull a monthly average of 5k.

My suggestion for someone starting in sales is to work for a manufacturer...if it works out then move to a reseller (company that resale's manufacturer products like CDW).

Hope that helps...good luck!

Not the easiest business in the world but I can assure you that automobile sales is a way to make great money. I am the general manager of a toyota dealership and about 20% of my salespeople earn well above the figure you mentioned.

Sales is certainly a good industry to get into and to make a lot of money in, especially if you are a good communicator.

Not entirely sure of the situation in Southern California itself - but do let us know how you get on.

Wow__ good question.

I asked the Dolly Lama himself this question and he said " Gunga Galunga" or was it "Gunga Lagunga" .

Nah_just messin with ya.

All kinding aside a career in sales is a tough but rewarding one.
Many people give up too early.
It requires more than 9 to 5 work days and getting pooped on by not only your prospects and competition but by the people that are supposed to support you. It aint easy man.
But on the other hand it offers great freedom, flexibility and monitary rewards to the person who is self motivated, well disciplined, willing to be rejected and keep on going.

Try an industry or product that you are passionate about.

Don't get into it for the money, get into it for the fun and the money should follow.
Some days your on top of the world and some days your looking for a bridge to jump off of.

This is my 3rd year in sales and I'm sticking with it.

So I got that going for me, which is nice.

P.S. stay away from those bridges.
