Guys, we've all been there, working with a product that is alright but not exactly the best thing you've ever sold on. After a while you get a bit bored of selling the same old jargon week in, week out.

How do you normally cope with something like that?

That is a great question to post. Does your product make peoples lives better? Does it add value to an existing project? Can it help streamline a process? I would hope that most of us are not in the sales industry just to make a buck, but we actually care to improve lives, further business, help cut costs, etc. Sure, selling accounting software or hospital beds or high end analytics applications can be mundane and feel like you are just out to plug and chug, but think of the improvement in peoples lives through the use of the product. No, the product may not be right for you as an individual, but you can bet there are people out there that will think it is the greatest thing ever. We have become such a niche society that there is not a one sized fits all solution, as people are become more picky, markets are created that did not exist.

When you get stuck in the rut of the same old pitch, look at the value your product/service provides your customer and think about how happy you are making them with their new decision. If you can't find a reason, find a new product.

Hi there,
I think with any sales job be it field or tele there always comes a point where the mundane factor jumps in. As dog don points out it's the difference you make to others with the service or product you provide.
Also, this is where the good sales people begin to shine as it is tough out there to keep doing the same thing over and over again and sound professional at what your trying to provide without sounding board out of your tree.
You have to pick your self-up, dust yourself down and start again. Self-motivation is a big part of sales.
Sometimes going back to basics helps as you get complacent with the product as you have been doing it for so long you go into auto pilot with the pitch.
When training we are recorded and it is very surprising how much you do miss out from those early calls we all made.
If you used to do this they are worth a listen you’ll be surprised!!!!
