I am trying to recruit a new business telesales person to book appointments - they need to be based out of my Stafford office to book appointments for the sales team. Every applicant so far has been dreadful - does anyone have any suggestions please?

How are you advertising the position?

Using an agency or direct with job boards is usually the best aproach. Local press adverts or in the local job centre often provides a bad response.

Also perhaps pre-screening candidates before a meeting?

Try looking for candidates that have worked for your competitors or similar industries?
