Default Cold Calling!!

How do you feel about cold calling?
Does it leave you with a chill, or are you more than comfortable peddling your wears to the unsuspecting?

Personally, the very thought of cold calling leaves me with the shivvvvvers (yes very big ones)!!

I once worked in recruitment, where cold calling was where it was at. One poor guy worked with us for a whole month before he had generated himself a new client. Urm I wonder what happened to him.

I don't think I'm the kind of person who would do well with cold calling.

I know someone who used to do that to sell newspaper subscriptions. As you can imagine, he had some nasty responses.

Cold calling is fine if you have something to offer. Provided you do your research on the company and you believe you can offer them something that will benefit them you should be confident to cold call. I get annoyed when people cold call me and have not done any of these things.

We've found cold calling is a skill. Or agents who stay and do well are made for it. They enjoy the challenge; however those who hate it... hate it.

If you dont like it out source it; if you like it, are good at it, and have time for it go for it!

But it works and should be a part of your over all plan!

Regards,

Tom

I personally don't like to do cold calling but i do think it is awesome experience and some people are awesome at it, while others have a hard time. I think it depends on personality.

The key is to try and think of a cold calling session as a practise session to hone up your pitches or selling skills.

Since the rejection rate IS going to be high, it will be best to divert your focus on polishing up your skills or experimenting with new ideas and pitches rather than 100% focus on end result, it will be more fun that way too

It can be frustrating, but I like Max's way of looking at it. Don't take reject too personally and pretend it's a game of sorts.

Also, give Salesconx a shot because we have tons of great leads and are in need of salespeople to sell some connections to our buyers!

Doesn't every sales position require some amount of cold calling? I probably spend 90% of my time prospecting for new clients, whether it's cold calling, Email, snail mail, or networking.

I'm sure it varies by industry.
