Default Your personality is your best sales tool

I have a theory that your best sales tool is your personality. If you project a glum, grumpy exterior then no one will touch you with a barge pole. People are people and will warm to someone that's pleasant to be around, open and friendly. You want to be the one they come back to when they've finishing traipsing around looking for the best bargain? Then be helpful, not skulking around like a shoplifter hoping no one speaks to you as we've all seen some do in various retailers. It's not always price that makes the sale.

I agree totally, let your personality shine, there is nothing worse than someone with a face like a slapped fish and following you around constantly asking if you are OK etc. If someone is really bubbly and has a nice personality I am willing to be helped.

I agree 100%! nobody wants to deal with someone they don't like or rubs them wrong. Your personality rubs off on most people, so it totally makes a difference.

A good personality and approachability is essential. A smile, manners and politeness cost nothing, and in sales terms it could reward you no end. I also think you need to build a relationship with your customers or clients, find out what common interests you have so you have something non work related to discuss.
