Default I am trying to start a business

Hello everyone, I am trying to start a web site that is pretty much a general intrest site and I have a myriad of categories. For starters I have a current events commentary that I write and I also have original short stories. There is a shopping section that I have set up. To make it easy I have the main url here for everyone interested who may want to look into partnering with me and can make this venture a success. I welcome email from any truly interested people who would either hire me if you already have a media firm or work for one, or any one who sees potential. I am currently looking for work as a creative writer. I would like to know if the site can be given a chance to be further developed.

Switch of your server and give up.

No seriously, your site needs a major design overhaul and certainly would be much better without the black background take a look at the simplistic designs of sites such as Yahoo and Altavista.

Default Hey' that's not fair!

But I'll take that as a dose of constructive criticism.
Yeah, I know all about that black background. But you see, I have toyed with several other backgrounds and I just don't like them. As far as going with something more simplistic like Yahoo! You are so joking right?

Why don't we just look at ::ahem:: content. I deliberately did the background as I did to be different. The content speaks for itself. Once you navigate through the site as should be reasonably easy for say anyone with a reasonable mentality; you will see it is quite categorized nicely. You go to the other links from the homepage and you check out the other features. I am serious about people taking a look and if anyone would help me run this monster I created, then maybe it will make a serious success. You can at least peek and poke and any criticisms, let's work with it. That is why I came here. To get the word out that I need help with this web site. Who knows who is reading this? Someone out there surely would not mind giving this a try and maybe, it will be worthwhile , even profitable.

Who do you want to reach with this site?
i.e. People in your own state, people throughout the US or people on a global basis.
What do you do to promote your site?
i.e. Search engine optimization, other forms of web based marketing and traditional media advertising.
How do you intend to make money from the site?
i.e. By selling advertising, sponsorship etc have you thought about advertising rates?
What about the competition?
Are there similar sites that you are trying to emulate? Or is your site unique, if so what makes it unique? ........... Advertisers like unique, they also like targeted niche sectors.........so have a think about that.
I still believe the design needs updating, depending on your browser, screen resolution and monitor size it can be very difficult to read and interpret.
Formulate a proper business plan, set yourself achievable goals and a realistic timetable of progress.........we'll talk again.
