War and the economy

With war about to start and the global economy in turmoil, what is the likelyhood of the world tumbling into depression? Or will the war (if short)
Provide the stability and confidence to kick start higher rates of economic growth?
I would like to hear anybodies comments.

Cloudwatcher,

Whilst the war has caused problems for my business (electronic capital equipment) my main problems are:
A strong Pound
SARS

I have a customer in Singapore that typically provides GBP750K pa in turnover but I cannot get to them, neither can I send any of my team not support staff.

A recent (annual) exhibition in China was aborted by me as I could not send any staff, nor could I rely on my Taiwanese partner to attend.

The war is a pain, but is not set to last for much longer, SARS.... who knows?

My sympathies are with you STH, and others in the same position as yourself, it must be very frustrating.......having sold into South East Asia myself I know how lucrative the markets out there can be.
Hopefully the scientists will get SARS under control soon, a vaccine is been produced as we speak.
