In the past I've found the best way to organize a team is to work very closely with them.
***Agree on expectations, organize efforts and track results!!
Our team did this using a piece of software that was built internally, but that's now available as a hosted service. It's similar to salesforce.com in essense, but is SIMPLE to use. It gets rid of everything unnecessary and gets the the heart of what's really important.
Worked well for getting our team to work more closely together.
